My dear Mr. Adams:

3

This will acknowledge and thank you for your letter of January eighteenth. I must advise, however, that there have been no plans made for the President to broadcast nor to participate in any way in the birthday celebrations. The entire plan for observing the President's birthday with its attendant benefits to the Warm Springs Foundation was conceived as a surprise for the President. Quite obviously it has not been kept a secret, nevertheless, neither the President nor the White House has any connection whatever with it.

4

Very sincerely yours,
STEPHEN EARLY
Assistant Secretary to the President

Mr. William M. Adams,

Chicago, Illinois.
