In the area of employer resistance to hiring the physically handicapped, regardless of their ability, the programs of NEPH Week and the follow-up activity of year-round programs should concentrate substantial effort.

2

Past campaigns have demonstrated that many employers are totally unaware that they are depriving themselves of skillful, reliable productive employees simply because they have adhered to an outmoded and illogical practice of insisting upon high physical standards for all new employees.

3

The programs of NEPH Week should carry messages of opportunity and assistance to the handicapped who are not employed or who are not employed at the highest level their abilities justify. Full information as to where this assistance is available should reach all those who need it.

4

And NEPH Week programs should also carry a message to the people of the community who have made available the services which exist not only to help in the vocational rehabilitation and employment of the handicapped but also to assist the employer in making his fullest economic contribution to the community.

5

Goodwill Industries are urged to co-operate with other leading rehabilitation agencies in making NEPH Week a success. Let your community know that Goodwill Industries do employ and train the handicapped!
