THE above sketch shows a knob arrangement for closing doors. It is so simple as to seem almost foolish, but it is a remarkably handy device for persons in wheelchairs. Pulling a door toward you to shut it after passing through requires a long arm and a contortionist ability when the regular knob Is used.

Placing a knob higher and nearer the door opening allows you to be nearly through the door before attempting to close it.

THESE two ideas are especially helpful to persons with only one useful hand. The clip board such as used in almost any office may be used to hold paper securely while writing longhand. This does away with using heavy and unsatisfactory paper weights. A little practice will perfect the one-handed technique of inserting paper under the spring clip.

4

The other idea is useful where a one-handed person is handling many papers or articles and yet is required very frequently to use a pencil or pen. A rubber band can be looped around the pencil in a double loop to hold it securely and then looped around the hand. This will hold the pencil in constant readiness without interfering with other free use of the hand.
