ACTIVITIES OF GROUPS

2

ARCHITECTURAL AND MECHANICAL HINTS GROUP -- The thought of a new patients' bus spurred patients and Foundation employees to a high pitch of interest in a four team contest for a model design. This contest is another instance of this Group's desire to lend constructive help to the management.

3

POLIO CRUSADERS -- Betty Romain of St. Cloud, Minn., has assumed active chairmanship of this Group, Elsie Balentine becoming vice-chairman. If Warm Springs alumni would give a tenth of the time and energy to the speeding of the Polio Crusade that the local group does, the membership would go over 2000 within 60 days.

4

REHABILITATION -- This Group under Grace Townsend is on the job. New pledge cards for the N. P. C. have been printed, and this Group has signed almost all patients.

5

PUBLICITY -- This Group, now under Peggy Clark, of New York City, has bought a new addressing machine which also prints postcards. The first follow-up to the Alumni Polio Crusader drive was printed on this machine. A local daily news card will appear August 15, under National Patient's Committee auspices. Also, a monthly message will go to all Warm Springs alumni in an effort to extend the Committee's program to a wider area.

6

LIBRARY -- Loose-Leaf bound copies of News-Week, Literary Digest, and Time are now available to readers at the Foundation. Also complete volumes of the Polio Chronicle to date, string bound with covers, are now available through this Group's work.
